CEDAR LAKE | The 4th grade classes at Jane Ball Elementary School sponsored a donation drive last week. The initiative was the idea of a fourth grade student, Jaiden Mika, in Mrs. Plants’ class who is a regular volunteer at the Lake County Animal Adoption and Control Center located in Crown Point. The no-kill shelter needs many supplies for their day-to-day operations. Students were asked to donate pet items like kitty litter, canned cat and dog food, paper towels, leashes, choke chains and collars, blankets, large bath towels, laundry detergent, and Dawn dish soap.
The classes decorated cardboard donation boxes for the classrooms. Jane Ball Elementary School collected hundreds of items to donate to the shelter. The director of the Lake County Animal Adoption and Control Center, Deborah Mandich-Nowland thanked all of the students for their hard work and generosity.
The students at Jane Ball School know what it means to be good citizens!
