SCHERERVILLE | The North West Indiana Landscape Association Holiday Gala Saturday at Chetnik Hall will raise funds for Toys for Tots. Kevin Van Sessen, who heads the not for profit networking and philanthropic group, said the event was open to all Northwest Indiana residents working in the green industry. Each participant brings an unwrapped gift for Toys for Tots.
Proceeds from the dinner and live auction are also donated to Toys for Tots. Van Sessen said last year more than $4,000 was raised at the event. The Northwest Indiana Landscape Association this year did pro bono work at a Crown Point elementary school this year and plans to donate time this summer to upgrade the southeast entrance to the Lake County Fairgrounds. The group meets at the Cantina side of Buddy and Pals in Crown Point the first Wednesday of each month at 5:45 p.m.
