CEDAR LAKE | Spending the Kids’ Inheritance is a new comedy written and directed by Angie Lowe. The last chance to see the play will be  on Friday, April 19.

This unique dinner theatre format features Friday dinner at 6:30 p.m. with the show at 8 pm. Tickets are $32 for adults and $30 for seniors. Kids to age 12 are welcome (with parental guidance) for $25. The 3-entree AYCE dinner is served family style. There is also a cash bar available. The ticket price includes the dinner and the show. For additional information or to reserve tickets, phone Angie Lowe at 365-3197 or the Great Oaks Dinner Theater at 374-8000.

LCTG co-directors Paul and Angie Lowe are busy readying the show before it goes on tour at White Pines in Oregon, Illinois. The actors are all local performers, all of whom have performed in many shows with L' arc en Ciel Theatre Guild at Great Oaks during the past 9 years.

Linda Slankard heads up the cast as Carol, with Don Taylor as Wayne. Brandon Denton portrays Carol's son T.J. and his real-life wife Sarah Denton plays his wife Traci. Angie Lowe, who wrote and directs the show, plays a cameo role as "the Doctor".

At the Villages in Florida, Carol Price and (yes!) Wayne Newton reminisce about their lost spouses, but rather than get lost in sadness, they find a way to bring happiness to others. Carol’s “kids", however, can't understand why they might be cut out and devise a scheme of their own to get what they think is rightfully theirs.

Author and Director Angie Lowe invites the audience to interact, to a certain point, with the cast members, answering if/when they ask specific questions, play along, finish their thoughts, chime in with the things your moms and dads have told you all your lives…in short, a little audience participation.

Lowe further reminds audiences that any similarity to any persons audiences may know is highly intentional! Any irksome or unpredictable behaviors that might be displayed might be happening in families somewhere, and local audiences should just be glad they're not happening to them!
