CEDAR LAKE | Platting plans for three potential new lots near Cedar Lake already have drawn the attention of neighbors.
Neighbors to the parcel near 9436 W. 125th Court have been calling about the owner’s petition, Building Commissioner Jack Slager told the Plan Commission during its June study session. A public hearing on the matter will be held in two weeks, and neighbors have told Slager they plan to attend, he said.
Thomas Kooi and his wife, Candace, of Lowell, own property south of the Singleton Oak Hill addition residential development. They’d like to develop the property, since they already have a buyer for one of the potential lots. The Koois are requesting preliminary plat approval for a three-lot subdivision.
The entire parcel is near the water, but some of it is landlocked and will require an access drive to make it accessible to the road. The interior of the parcel is on a slope and will require some variances.
Town Engineer Donald Oliphant recommended the commission require that the Koois provide drawings of the proposed lots, even though no buildings have been proposed for them yet.
“You don’t want to approve a lot that can’t be buildable,” Oliphant said.
