CEDAR LAKE | Cedar Lake Parks and Recreation Department opens May with a couple of spring programs. Call the parks office at (219) 374-4444 for more information and to register.

All for preschoolers

Preschool Potpourri, a five-week program beginning today, gives children 3 and 4 the chance to interact with other children, learn social skills, and learn through play, music, and activities. Crafts, games and snacks are included.

Limited to 10 children, the class meets from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays  at the Cedar Lake Park Building at the town complex, 7408 Constitution Ave.

Themes include: today - Cinco De Mayo, May 8- Mother's Day, May 15 - Caterpillars & Butterflies, May 22 - Memorial Day, and May 29 - Turtle Day.

Come to a party

All little ladies are invited to Clara Ann's Tea Party with all the trimmings at 1 p.m. May 18 in the park building.

"We will be serving tea, lemonade, petite fours, and other dainty foods. Manners will also be discussed," said Parks Superintendent Mary Joan Dickson. 

Open to children 4 to 12, the cost is $5.
