CROWN POINT | Police responding to a complaint of loud music arrested 15 adults and three juveniles late Saturday at a Crown Point home.
The adults face charges of illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and resisting law enforcement. The juveniles were released to their parents.
The arrests came after partygoers scattered when police arrived about 11:30 p.m. at the home in the 9800 block of Tyler Street, police said.
Several ran from the home and jumped fences to get away, while others ran inside the house, turned off the lights and closed the curtains, police said.
A strong odor of burnt marijuana came from the house, police said.
Police advised those inside the house that a search warrant would be obtained if the door was not opened. Those inside said they would call the officers' bluff and refused to open the door or come outside, police said.
Police obtained a search warrant and went inside, where the 15 adults and three juveniles were arrested. A small amount of marijuana was found inside, police said.
The eight 18-year-olds and seven 19-year-olds arrested were from Crown point, Schererville, St. John, Dyer, Merrillville and Munster.
