Scout builds pergola for OE
Tony Mannia, of Valparaiso, recently earned Eagle Scout honors following his construction of a pergola for Opportunity Enterprises, to give clients a place to enjoy during their work breaks. Planning began with drawing up plans for the pergola, which turned out to be more difficult than the actual construction.
Mannia said that becoming an Eagle Scout has prepared him for a life after scouting and taught him valuable lessons in leadership, teamwork, and the importance of serving the community.
Projects such as Mannia's are valuable to OE because they complete projects that would otherwise be cost prohibitive.
Opportunity Enterprises is a nonprofit organization that enriches the lives of 1,100 adults and children throughout Northwest Indiana with disabilities by providing support and meaningful opportunities. For more information, visit www.oppent.org.

This is a free event and refreshments will be served. For more information, call (219) 662-3290.
