CROWN POINT | Training to become a Lake County Master Gardener volunteer will be offered starting on August 30, 2012 and continuing for 13 consecutive weeks. Classes will be held on Thursdays between 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. CST. Classes will be held in the meeting room at the Extension Office, located at 880 E. 99th Ct., Suite A, Crown Point.

Enrollment is limited and first-come-first serve. To reserve your spot, payment must accompany completed application and submitted to the Extension Office no later than 4:30 p.m. on August 16, 2012.

This non-credit course, offers intensified training on a broad range of gardening topics. Once training and certification have been completed, there will be many opportunities to participate in Master Gardener activities. Those passing the final exam are REQUIRED to donate 35 hours of their time to Purdue Cooperative Extension Service sponsored activities to β€œhelp others grow.” The activities include a variety of community service projects related to gardening. Upon completion of the 35-hour volunteer requirement, participants will be certified as a Master Gardener by Purdue University and will be eligible for continued membership in the Purdue Master Gardener Program.

Sessions will be presented by Extension Educators, Purdue University Professors and others in the horticulture industry.

This class is open to all residents regardless of race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin or ancestry, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, disability or status as a veteran.
