CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Board of Zoning Appeals has denied a request for a variance that would have permitted a sign closer to the curb than is permitted for a business at 1405 E. Summit St.
UBN Corp. Properties owner Basil Ubanwa said a sign within the permitted space would hamper traffic in the business parking lot.
Zoning appeals board members said granting the request would set an unwanted precedent for other businesses near the location.
The board voted 5 - 0 to deny the request.
