CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Board of Public Works and Safety authorized spending of up to $10,000 as seed money for a study evaluating use of various public structures.

Officials in June called for an update of a facility usage report last completed in 2009, looking at the Emergency Services building housing the fire and police departments, at 124-126 N. East St., and the nearly 60-year-old City Hall, 101 N. East St., among other civic buildings.

How well the buildings function as they are intended and the cost of heating, cooling and maintaining them are among items to be examined.
