CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Board of Zoning Appeals deferred a request for a variance to permit construction of a three-season room at a home in the 400 block of Gard Drive.
The homeowner proposed to construct the 10-foot by 16-foot room on an existing concrete pad on the property. The variance would permit the room to encroach 4 feet into the rear yard of the property.
Zoning appeals board members were concerned the room also would encroach into the side-yard setback of the property, and could set a precedent for other homes in the neighborhood, Chairman Dan Rohaley said.
A decision on the matter was put off to the board's January meeting.
