CROWN POINT | Crown Point detectives are trying to figure out how a man wound up lying in his yard unresponsive with head trauma Friday afternoon.
Officers were called at 12:07 p.m. Friday to Franciscan St. Anthony Health for a report of a patient brought to the hospital earlier in the day with head trauma.
Relatives told police the 32-year-old man was dropped off at his home in the 100 block of South Indiana Avenue by a family member about 11 p.m. Thursday. Another relative said the man went outside about 1 a.m. to talk to a family member on the phone.
At 6:30 a.m. Friday, the same family member found the man lying outside and unresponsive. The relative called 911, and EMS personnel transported the man to the hospital, where he remained Tuesday, police said.
Crown Point detectives are investigating the incident.
"At this point, all possible scenarios are being looked at on how the subject could have sustained his injuries," said a news release issued Tuesday by the Crown Point Police Department.
Police asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Cmdr. Len Homola at (219) 663-2131, ext. 124, or Detective Bob Franko at (219) 663-2131, ext. 121.
