CROWN POINT | Dozens of officers from Crown Point and other departments swarmed an area of the Liberty Park neighborhood Tuesday night.
The Times received reports that police restricted access near the intersection of Maple Street and Oak Street about 8:30 p.m. Several police vehicles including a truck from the Northwest Regional SWAT Team were staged in a Walgreens parking lot at Main Street and Summit Street.
The Times could not immediately confirm what led to the police response.
Crown Point Assistant Police Chief Jim Janda and Police Chief Pete Land didn't immediately return calls seeking comment Tuesday night.
Patti Van Til, public information officer for the Lake County Sheriff's Department, confirmed county personnel responded to the matter, but she declined to provide additional information because Crown Point was the lead agency in the investigation.
Police remained in the area after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
