CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Fire Rescue Department was granted approval by the Board of Public Works and Safety to retire a 1991 ambulance which has been replaced with a new model.
The Fire Rescue Department's 22012 Medtec ambulance was delivered in November and is being readied for service, Chief Greg DeLor said.
The older model ambulance had been donated to the department in 2001 by Crown Point Volunteer Fire Department Inc. and will be returned to the organization, DeLor said.
The purchase of the 2012 model was authorized just more than a year ago by the Board of Public Works and Safety. Crossroads Ambulance Service, of Elkhart, was awarded the $223,914 contract in February for the new ambulance.
