CENTER TOWNSHIP | A 45-year-old Crown Point man was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Monday night in Center Township, officials said.
Richard Frederickson, of the 7200 block of West 86th Avenue, was pronounced dead at 9:42 p.m. at the scene of the crash in the 10300 block of Clark Road, a spokesman for the Lake County coroner's office said.
The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma suffered in a motor vehicle accident.
According to Lake County police, officers were called to West 105th Avenue and Clark Road at 8:45 p.m. Police said Frederickson was traveling north on Clark Road, drove left of center and crossed into oncoming traffic.
Frederickson then drove off the road and into a ditch, where he was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a fence post, police said. He came to rest next to a fence post, and the motorcycle continued traveling north along Clark Road before stopping in the road.
Police said the crash remains under investigation.
