CROWN POINT | The Board of Public Works and Safety granted a Police Department request to buy four 2014 squad cars.

The vehicles, priced at a total $104,000, include two Ford black and white sedans, a black and white V-6 Charger and an unmarked V-6 Charger.

Art Hill Ford, of Merrillville, and Thomas Dodge, of Highland, provided the lowest and most responsible bids for the vehicles, officials said. The cars all are equipped for E-85 fuel and outfitted with all-wheel drive.

Funding of $125,000 is available in the city budget for the purchase, officials said.
