CROWN POINT | A Gary man has been charged with conversion for the alleged theft of scrap metal from a Crown Point business, police said.
Michael Caston, 57, was arrested after police were alerted Sunday to someone removing metal from behind a business in the 1600 block of E. North Street, police said.
Police located a pickup truck driven by Caston several blocks from the scene with numerous metal items in the truck bed, Crown Point police Chief Pete Land said in a prepared statement.
Caston admitted removing the items from the business, Land said. The metal was returned to the business, whose personnel verified it belonged to the company.
