CROWN POINT | A sobriety checkpoint May 3 in Crown Point netted five arrests, including two for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, police said.

Police estimate more than 100 vehicles passed through the checkpoint between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m., in the 1300 block of East North Street.

Crown Point police, working with the Lake County DUI Task Force, also arrested three people for driving with a suspended license and one person for possession of marijuana.

Chief Pete Land said conducting a checkpoint helps to remind motorists not to drink and drive.
