CROWN POINT | Police are searching for a suspect who burglarized a home Tuesday on the 1300 block of Madison Street.

The burglary happened at 11:20 a.m., and the suspect fled the scene when the homeowner returned home and opened the garage door, Crown Point police said.

Officers searched for the suspect using a K-9 dog and the Lake County Sheriff's Department helicopter. Police weren't able to locate the suspect.

There have been three reported home burglaries since Aug. 1, police said. There have also been four break-ins to cars during overnight hours.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Crown Point police at (219) 663-2131 or the department's tip line at (219) 663-2131, ext. 265.
