CROWN POINT | Center Township Trustee Paul Bremer and members of the township advisory board recently said they will not seek raises in 2014.
Bremer was elected to the post in January by a caucus of the Lake County Republican Party. His annual salary as township trustee is $32,564.
Bryan Bodamer, Kathryn Webster and Roland Wise are each paid $2,758 yearly as advisory board members.
Raises of no more than 2 percent will be sought for a chief deputy clerk/investigator supervisor and an investigator, both of whom are employed by the township, officials said in preliminary discussion last week.
The annual 2013 salary of the chief deputy clerk/investigator supervisor is $28,610. The investigator's salary was set at $18,534 for this year.
Further discussions will be held in August and September, leading to final adoption of the budget no later than Nov. 1.
The Center Township 2013 budget totaled $783,178, including the general fund, the township assistance fund and funds for covering the cost of fire protection service, according to the township.
The city of Crown Point provides fire protection service to the township under a $375,000 annual contract, which runs through December 2014.
Bremer replaced previous Center Township Trustee Eldon Strong, who stepped down to assume the 7th District Lake County Council seat.
