Homann Karate Do, 1245 E. North St., Crown Point, will host a Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. April 11 to celebrate the opening of its new location.

Attendees will learn about the programs they offer and have an opportunity to network with members of Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce. Refreshments will be provided.

Learn about marketing

First Financial Bank, 11890 Broadway, Crown Point, is hosting a “Top 10 Marketing Trends to Survive in the Marketplace” seminar from 8 to 9 a.m. April 19.

Presented by Theresa Badovich, owner and CEO of The Idea Factory in Crown Point, there is no charge to attend, but reservations are required and can be made by calling Judith Mariola at (219) 226-2062. There will be opportunities to network and refreshments will be provided.

20th anniversary celebration

Dr. Robert Hall will celebrate his 20th anniversary at Broadway Plaza Pain Relief, 5360 Broadway, Merrillville, in April.

As a way of showing his gratitude, Dr. Hall has set aside two days in April to say thanks to his patients, friends and family. On April 23, he will offer free services to all of his existing patients, and on April 24, all new patient referrals will receive free consultations, as well as free food, entertainment, and prizes for all. 

Dr. Hall is very active in the community and is a supporter of many philanthropic organizations. He participates in many area health fairs and sponsors senior citizen breakfasts at several community centers.

Summer camp at Taltree

This summer, Taltree Arboretum and Gardens in Valparaiso will offer a series of summer camps specifically geared toward students headed for grades 3 to 6.

The goal is for participants to enjoy a holistic and enjoyable environment where they will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and focus upon their specific interests. Taltree’s programs allow for campers to experience a wide variety of activities in a fun and safe environment.

Lights, camera, education

The Merrillville Education Foundation will celebrate its 11th anniversary in style from 7 to 11 p.m. May 10 at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza, 800 E. 81th Ave., Merrillville.

The evening will be filled with gourmet food stations, exceptional beer and wine tasting, a basket raffle and friendly fellowship in a relaxing atmosphere of fun and music.

Proceeds will support the foundation's mission and allows the organization to award grants and resources that are not available through public education funding.

The committee is seeking individuals and businesses to help support the event by either donating items for the basket raffle or becoming a table sponsor for $100. For more information, call Lori Govert at (219) 718-4289.
