CROWN POINT | The Lake County Soil & Water Conservation District is sponsoring its annual T-shirt design contest, open to all students attending high school in Lake County.

Cash awards will be given to the winners as follows:  first, $150; second, $125; third, $100; fourth, $75; fifth, $50; and sixth, $25. This year’s topic is “Where Does Your Water Shed?” The design should emphasize the importance of water and the watershed, an area of land that drains to a particular body of water such as a river or a lake.

Ever wonder where the rain goes once it hits the ground? That depends on what it lands on and where the water will shed. It is important to know that we all live in a watershed.

The entry deadline is May 1. Obtain an information packet by contacting Julie Duttlinger at (219) 663-7042 or stop in the SWCD office at 880 E. 99th Court, Suite A, Crown Point.
