CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Latin Club Certamen teams competed at the Indiana Certamen Invitational at Homestead High School in Fort Wayne on Feb. 23. Four schools from around the state brought 20 teams to compete in this event.
Crown Point entered five teams in the competition: two at the novice level, two at the intermediate level, and one at the advanced level. Each team advanced to their final rounds with two teams returning home with first place trophies. The novice teams place second and third, the intermediate teams placed first and second and the advanced team placed first.
In the novice division, the team of Griffin Berwick, Emily Fender*, and Kelly Merrill placed second while the team of Tyler Jeremiah* and Alex Baloski finished in third place.
In the intermediate division, the team of Brennen Chaussey, Ryan Sizemore and captain Anna Werkowski brought home the first place trophy. The team of Nathan Hovanec, Josh Mazur and Morgan Stofko placed second.
In the advanced division, the team of Sarah DeMars, Thomas Cooper, captain Kristina Mihajlovic and Andie Wahlberg returned home with the first place trophy.
We are extremely proud of all of these students and are looking forward to our next competition, which will be at the Indiana Junior Classical League State Convention at Indiana State University in Terre Haute March 15-16.
