Muscle Car Beach Show
Bosak Chrysler Jeep Dodge, 3111 W. U.S. 30, Merrillville, is hosting a Muscle Car Beach Car Show and Event from 5 to 8 p.m. July 18. There will be music, games, drinks, and food provided by Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill. Crown Brewing will also be on hand offering samples of beer.

Save the day
Crown Point Community Library, 122 N. Main St., is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 30.
Make an appointment to donate at the library's Circulation Desk. They need to have at least 25 donation pledges in order to host this lifesaving blood drive. An hour of your time can save up to three lives. Join the library to be a part of Saving the Day.
Underwater Astronaut Training Camp
Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana, on the Purdue University Calumet campus in Hammond, is teaching students the science and physics behind walking on the moon during an Underwater Astronaut Training Camp.
Camp sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 29 and 30th. Students 11 to 14 will receive basic training from a certified SCUBA instructor on how to use SCUBA gear underwater to learn about space walking. During the two-day camp, students will also learn about neutral buoyancy, density, astronaut training and other space and science topics.

Join a marathon team
Runners of all ability levels interested in running the sold-out Bank of America Chicago Marathon can still register with the Opportunity Enterprise team through July 15 to secure one of a limited number of spots available.
Registration requires an activation fee of $200 and a commitment to raise and additional $550 by Sept. 13.
Team membership includes training programs modified for beginning, intermediate and advanced runners. In addition to the training program, team members enjoy other benefits, including use of an exclusive race day warm-up and reunite area, a team shirt, race day transportation, a weekly e-newsletter containing training tips, a pasta dinner and post-race party.
Funds raised by this years team will support growth and development at OE’s lakeside property and the programs located there – Enriching Possibilities and the Renewed Horizons Adult Day Care.
