Crown Point begins Toys for Tots collection drive
City of Crown Point, in partnership with the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots, is hosting a Holiday Toys for Tots Drive, with collection bins in place until Dec. 13. The public is encouraged to drop off any new and unwrapped toys from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in the foyer of City Hall, 101 N. East St., the Crown Point Police Department, 124 N. East St., and the adjacent Fire Department.

ARTability Show and Sale
Opportunity Enterprises' Fifth Annual ARTability Art Show and Sale will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at Framing Concepts, 219 Broadway, Chesterton. The event is free and open to the public, and will feature canvas art and ceramics completed by OE client artists in collaboration with art instructors through OE's Art Enrichment Program.
Sale proceeds will benefit OE's Art Enrichment Program, and client artists receive a commission on every sale.
Appetizers will be provided by Popolano's of Chesterton and wine will be provided by Butler Winery of Chesterton. Visitors to the art show are encouraged to take advantage of an additional opportunity to support Opportunity Enterprises by visiting Ashley's Jewelry by Design, 221 Broadway, next to Framing Concepts. Ten percent of all fine jewelry purchases made Nov. 17 to 19 may be donated to the OE Art Enrichment Program. Special service for unemployed
South Point Baptist Church, 150 Anderson St., Crown Point, will have a special service, South Point Loves the Unemployed, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The congregation will offer a special prayer for everyone looking for a job, and will have employers in attendance to accept applications.

Support our veterans
In celebration of Veterans Day, Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy, 8255 Georgia St., Merrillville, is supporting military heroes by donating $1 for each chile con queso appetizer that is sold Nov. 11 to 13 to the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.
