CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Latin Club Certamen teams competed at the Hoosier Certamen Invitational -- a Jeopardy-like competition -- at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis Feb. 2.
Eight schools from around the state brought 24 teams to compete in this event. Crown Point entered five teams in the competition; one was at the novice level, two were at the intermediate level and two were at the advanced level. Each team advanced to their final rounds with one team returning home with the first place trophy.
Overall, the novice team placed second, the intermediate teams places first and third, and the advanced teams placed second and third.
In the novice division, the team of captain Tyler Jeremiah and Alex Baloski placed second.
In the intermediate division, the team of Nathan Hovanec, Ryan Sizemore and captain Anna Werkowski brought home the first place trophy. The team of Josh Mazur, Morgan Stofko and John Verdegan placed third.
In the advanced division, the team of Renee Brigham, captain Kristina Mihajlovic and Susan Reed placed second. The team of captain Thomas Cooper and Michael Keller finished in third place.
We are extremely proud of all of these students and are looking forward to our next competition, which will be at the Indiana Certamen Invitational at Homestead High School in Fort Wayne on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
