CROWN POINT | The community is invited to celebrate another milestone for the Crown Point Community Library – one year in the downtown building at 122 N. Main St. All activities Sunday through Oct. 27 will be held at the library with free admission.

Sunday, Oct. 20

True-crime author Rich Lindberg presents a montage of Gaslight-era serial killers, scoundrels, and murderers in “Devils in the White City and Beyond” at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Lindberg is a lifelong Chicagoan, author, journalist, and research historian who has written and published 17 books dealing with city history, politics, criminal justice, sports, and ethnicity.

Writing has been his avocation since 11, when he began keeping a journal, a lifelong practice inspired by an early reading of "The Diary of Anne Frank."

Researching and uncovering forgotten Chicago history for more than 30 years, Lindberg has been featured on numerous television and radio shows, as well as documentaries about Chicago and its rich history.

He began in 1977 as a free-lance reporter for the Lerner Community Newspapers of Chicago, and spent  nights covering sports, community events, fraternal associations, and political gatherings.
