CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Board of Public Works and Safety approved a bid to purchase a 4-ton dump truck and snowplow for the Public Works Department.
The truck will be purchased from Gary-based Chicago International Trucks, which was low bidder at $80,900. Truck City, also of Gary, bid $82,901.
The bid for a package including a snowplow and salt spreader went to Joliet, Ill.-based Monroe Truck Equipment, which was the only bidder at $77,447.
The new vehicle is expected to arrive in January. It replaces a 1992 model.
