CROWN POINT | Crown Point High School's VEX Robotics Team 1233 Underdogs are ready to take on the world after competing earlier this month at the Great Lakes, Midwest, Illinois VEX Robotics Championship in Batavia, Ill.
With 56 robotic teams from Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin, all four of Crown Point's 1233 teams made it to the finals, with Team 1233B qualifying in ninth, Team 1233D qualifying sixth, Team 1233C qualifying fifth, and Team 1233A qualifying first as the only team to go undefeated at 6-0 in qualifying matches.
In the finals, Team 1233B finished fourth, Teams 1233C and D finished third and Team 1233A stayed undefeated to become tournament champions and qualify for the World Tournament in Anaheim, Calif.
Team 1233A also received the Excellence Award for outstanding robot design and performance.
This is the fourth year in a row that the CPHS VEX Robotics Team has qualified teams for national and world competitions.
