There is still time this month to enjoy the Crown Point Car Cruise from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays on the downtown square, and the Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays on South Main Street.

Take a tour of the Old Sheriff’s House and Jail, 226 S. Main St., while you are downtown for the cruise or the market. Tours are $5 for ages 12 and older from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Donate to church sale

If you are doing some fall cleaning, you can donate unwanted treasures to the St. Matthias Fall Garage, Antique and Bake Sale. Donations are being accepted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily starting Thursday through Sept. 23 at the St. Matthias Church Hall, 101 W. Burrell Drive, Crown Point. If you have large items that need to be picked up, call (219) 663-2201.

The sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 26 and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 27.

Happy Birthday Courthouse

The Grand Old Courthouse turns 135 this year. The Lake Courthouse Foundation is celebrating with an anniversary party from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 22.

This free family event will be filled with fun for everyone. Children will enjoy face painting, bouncers and more. Astronaut and Crown Point native Jerry Ross’ DVD will be playing throughout the event in the courtroom, and scrapbooks from eras past will be available for viewing.

The event will open with remarks from foundation director Marty Wheeler and Mayor David Uran. Jerry Ross will say a few words and James Paul Brown will be introduced. Beck's Bakery will provide and serve cake at 3:30.

Thanks to Principal Tim Vassar, parking will be available at nearby Col. J. Wheeler Middle School.

Happy anniversary

Congratulations to Rich and Sandy Susak, who recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner with family and friends at Dick’s Restaurant.
