CROWN POINT | The Overdrive Digital Bookmobile National Tour Exhibit will be stopping by the Crown Point Community Library at 122 N. Main St. on July 19. It will be parked in the main parking lot in front of the library from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Digital Bookmobile is housed inside an 74-foot 18-wheel tractor-trailer. Interactive learning stations give visitors an opportunity to search the library’s digital media collection, use supported mobile devices, and sample eBooks, audiobooks, music and video readers.
All ages can learn how to download eBooks from the library through interactive demonstrations and high-definition instructional videos. A “gadget gallery”—featuring NOOK, Kindle, iPod touch, Android tablet, Sony Reader, BlackBerry, Windows® Phone, and more—will help visitors discover portable devices that are compatible with the library’s download service, OverDrive. OverDrive is the library’s e-book lending platform.
Crown Point Library cardholders can check out and download digital titles anytime and anywhere by visiting crownpoint.lib.overdrive.com. The great thing about downloadable books is there never a late fee. The books automatically return themselves at the end of their loan period.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come out and get more familiar with OverDrive and get hands-on experience with a variety of mobile devices to download audio books, eBooks and more," Laura Clemons, Communications Specialist said.
