CROWN POINT | Tim Fealy, organizer of Hometown Happenings, recently delivered a check to the Dunes Dog Training Club who received part of the proceeds from the Beast Boot Camp 5K held in May.

Fealy thanked Carriage Court Pizza, HGS Music and all the participants and sponsors for helping make the event a success.

Fealy said the Dunes Dog Training Club has a Pets N Vets program which serves local returning veterans by providing them with therapy dogs.

“Last night their director told me that a couple of the veterans had been shut-ins and wouldn’t leave their homes,” Fealy said. “Or, if they did, it was to do their shopping at 3 a.m. Now, because of the dogs, they have been able to go out in the light of day and start interacting with people again. I find stuff like this to be very cool!”
