CROWN POINT | Colonel John Wheeler Middle School hosted its first science fair this spring, with all eighth-graders group designing projects that were judged by community representatives.
The overall winner was Nolan Panepinto, whose project addressed Pedigree Analysis.
He won a $50 cash prize donated by Science Department Chair Tamara Betz. "I was thrilled with the projects," Betz said. "I was excited to see the kids excited about science.
"The vision was to create an environment where kids use the scientific method to determine the solution to a problem. Many of these kids have never even entered a science fair. The goal is to eventually expand to include all grade levels."
