Strack & Van Til food markets presented two, $5,000 donations to Franciscan Alliance Foundation to benefit Catherine McAuley Clinic in Hammond and St. Clare Health Clinic in Crown Point, to assist the clinics' efforts to serve uninsured and working-poor clients in north Lake County.
Since 1996, Catherine McAuley Clinic, under the auspices of Franciscan St. Margaret Health Dyer and Hammond, has provided medical care and referral services to thousands of needy community members.
St. Clare Clinic, which is under the umbrella of Franciscan St. Anthony Health Crown Point, also opened in 1996 and likewise has provided medical care and referral services to thousands of underprivileged and underinsured residents of six area counties. The clinic also is home to Franciscan St. Anthony Health’s Prenatal Assistance Program.
The donations, which were made at SVT LLC, the company’s corporate headquarters in Highland last month, were among those provided area charities through proceeds from a second annual charity golf outing.
Wilkinson and Raab said the clinics were selected as part of the 37-store food company’s efforts to support agencies that provide community services to the less fortunate. Raab, who also is president of St. James Family Health Services, said he also knew “of the good work being done by the clinics” through that affiliation. Besides its signature markets, SVT also operates Ultra Foods and Town and Country.
