CROWN POINT | Hats were required attire Friday as Eisenhower Elementary School celebrated the birthday of author Theodore Geisel, better known - and loved by children of all ages - as Dr. Seuss.
Students made their own versions of the "The Cat in the Hat" toppers and received Dr. Seuss bookmarks, pencils and erasers in honor of Dr. Seuss.
The entire school participated in a Reading Race, and each class winner received a special Dr. Seuss Prize.
Throughout the school day students and teachers were seen reading Dr. Seuss books. At lunch time, MaryKay. Ruble, cafeteria manager, offered students “Green Eggs and Ham" and birthday cake to help with the festivities. Cynthia Bradford, music director, taught the students a special song, “Dr. Seuss We Love You.”
"It was collaborative effort to ensure that everyone had a wonderful time at our very special party," said Judy Einikis, media specialist at the school.
