Munster dental office donates money for NWI cancer charity
MUNSTER | Compton Dental Center, 901 Fran Lin Parkway, will donate $10 to Northwest Indiana Cancer Kids Foundation for every exam given by Dr. Grant Cleveland through Nov. 15.
Cleveland recently joined the practice. The dental center has supported the foundation's mission since 2008.
LaPorte, Starke hospitals offer discounts on mammograms
LAPORTE | In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, IU Health LaPorte and Starke hospitals are offering discounted screening mammograms through October.
The baseline screening mammogram is offered for $95 at several locations in the region.

Women who have not yet had an annual mammogram are invited to participate. Patients must be asymptomatic and have no prior history of breast cancer.
No physician order is required. However, a primary care physician is required to receive results. Patients are responsible for payment in full at time of service. Cash, check, credit and debit are accepted.
Discounted mammograms to be offered through Oct. 26
NorthShore Health Centers will offer $75 digital mammogram screenings Monday through Oct. 26. Call (219) 763-8112 for more information.
In May and October of previous years, NorthShore Health Centers purchased screening mammography certificates from local hospitals to allow about 500 uninsured women each year receive mammography screenings.
Dr. Marilyn Rosencranz, breast imaging radiologist, has joined NorthShore and provides onsite consultation on diagnostic and breast ultrasounds.
NorthShore Health Centers is offering women who are symptom free and who meet the American Cancer guidelines for screening a digital mammography screening for the $75 rate.
Open house is slated for new VNA service branch in Hamlet
HAMLET | Indiana University Health LaPorte VNA Services invites the public, patients and their families to attend an open house at a new branch office in Starke County.
The open house will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at 5955 E. 600 North.
Attendees will receive a free gift. There will be prize drawings and tours of the facility. Also, staff will administer seasonal flu vaccinations for $25 to those interested.
Holiday bazaar is returning to Crown Point center Oct. 26
CROWN POINT | The Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Crown Point Auxiliary will host its annual Christmas in the Country Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Marian Education Center, located on the hospital campus, 1201 S. Main St.
The event will showcase numerous handmade items, including crafts, blankets, seasonal floral arrangements, snowmen, angels, wreaths, baby items, homemade baked goods and a raffle.
