CROWN POINT | The Lake County Soil & Water Conservation District and Farm Bureau Inc. are once again sponsoring the annual Conservation Public Speaking Contest.

The county contest is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Soil and Water Conservation District Office, 880 E. 99th Court, Suite A.

Open to all students in grades 9 to 12 in Lake County, students are asked to prepare a 5- to 8-minute speech on the topic “Where Does Your Water Shed?”

Speeches should emphasize the importance of water and must address the theme. Cash awards will be given to the winning speeches as follows: first, $150; second, $125; third, $100; fourth, $75; fifth, $50; and $25 for sixth place.
