CROWN POINT | “Another academic record is broken as more schools than ever in our history earn the Indiana Four Star School Award,” Dr. Teresa A. Eineman, Superintendent of Schools said.
2012-2013 Indiana Four Star Schools include: Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary School, Lake Street Elementary School, Douglas MacArthur Elementary School, Solon Robinson Elementary School, Winfield Elementary School, Jerry Ross Elementary School, Robert A. Taft Middle School, Colonel John Wheeler Middle School, and Crown Point High School.
The Crown Point Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees presented Commendation Awards to the principals of these nine outstanding schools at the May 20 School Board meeting.
Four Star distinctions acknowledge top schools
Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz announced Indiana's Four Star School Awardees for the 2012-2013 school year on May 13. The Four Star School Award, the state's highest distinction, was given to 313 schools for their attendance rates, student achievement and performance on the I STEP+.
"I am honored to name these schools as our Four Star Schools for this year," Ritz said. "Winning this award required excellent work by teachers, administrators, students and parents throughout the year and on behalf of the entire Indiana Department of Education I send them my sincere congratulations."
Each year, the Indiana Department of Education recognizes schools that perform in the upper 25th percentile of schools in performance on ISTEP+ and ECA state exams, as well as their rating determined by the national No Child Left Behind statute's Adequate Yearly Progress.
