CROWN POINT | The youngest school board member is six-years-old and a kindergarten student at Winfield Elementary. Dressed for success, Junior Board Members conducted business with decorum and efficiency.
The opportunity to serve as a junior member of the Board of School Trustees was part of a silent auction at the Feb. 8 Winfield/Jerry Ross Winterfest sponsored by the PTO.
Seven students from Winfield and Jerry Ross elementary schools won this opportunity and sat with the School Board at the Feb. 25 school board meeting learning a lesson in civic responsibility.
The junior members were sworn in by Judge Kent Jeffirs, Crown Point City Court, and assisted the Board in conducting the evening’s business.
Junior members were Katelynn Neal, Gavin Pulley, Ruth Peschke, Joshua Holbrook, Charles Peschke, Andrew Holbrook, and Makayla Neal.
