CROWN POINT | Kids Against Hunger, a charity devoted to eradicating world hunger, and Thrivent Financial, a not-for-profit fraternal benefit society, join forces for the annual food packing project.
“This year we aim to pack 200,000 meals, almost doubling our previous record on Saturday at Valparaiso University in the Athletic Recreation Center,” Carsten Falkenberg, retired wealth adviser for Thrivent Financial, said. “Ninety percent of the food will restock food pantries in Northwest Indiana.”
Volunteers for the 8:30 a.m. or the 12:30 p.m. shifts should sign up online at www.kah-greenwood.org.
Tax-deductible donations made out to Kids Against Hunger are being accepted at the event or can be mailed to Carsten Falkenberg, 6811 E. 125th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307.
