Please join the Crown Point Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for an afternoon of food, fun and the craziness at the annual Crazy Bunco Party on Nov. 3 at the Crown Point Fire Station, 126 N. East St.
Tickets will be sold at the door for $10, and will include lunch with a variety of side dishes and desserts. Lunch will be available at noon, with the first bunco game following at 1 p.m. Top winners for the afternoon will receive prizes.

Happy first anniversary
The Crown Point Community Library, 122 N. Main St., has a week of events starting Sunday to celebrate its one-year anniversary in the new downtown building. All events are free to the public:
Sunday – “Devils in the White City and Beyond” by Richard C. Lindberg at 2 p.m. True crime author Rich Lindberg presents a fascinating montage of Gaslight-era serial killers, scoundrels and murderers.
Monday – Free Replacement Card Day – Did you lose your library card? Get it replaced free.
Tuesday - Anniversary Day with cake and coffee in Internet Café from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., free coffee from the drink machine from 5 to 8 p.m. and, at 6, storyteller Grant Fitch presents “Not So Scary Stories” for all ages. Come in costume and be entered into a prize drawing.
Wednesday - First Impressions Art Exhibit Opening Reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Crown Point High School Visual Art teachers and select student artists will be on hand to discuss their artwork. Refreshments will be served.
Thursday, Oct. 24 – Meet and Greet “Discover” artist Bree Gomez from 6 to 7 p.m. Gomez will discuss her artwork and the commissioned piece that is currently on display in the children’s area.
Friday, Oct. 25 – Friends Day offers free bagels and coffee while they last on the morning of the first day of the Friends of the Library book sale at 9:30 a.m. The Fall Book Sale runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Oct. 26 featuring a $5 a bag sale, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 with a $1 a bag super sale.
Sponsor spaghetti supper
The water will soon be boiling and the noodles will be cooking as St. Mary Catholic Community School prepares for Crown Point’s tastiest fall tradition - the St. Mary's Spaghetti Supper.
Thanks to the community’s support for this major fundraiser, students have been provided with new playground equipment, library books, computers, educational assemblies, art lessons, and air conditioning.
The supper is scheduled for Nov. 13 and the school is seeking sponsors. Patrons are invited to participate at the Anniversary Club, Founders Club, or Supporting Club level, with the requested donation levels are $250, $100 and $50, respectively. For more information, call (219) 669-0745.
