CROWN POINT | Lake County police responded Tuesday to an alleged burglary foiled by the homeowner.

A news release Wednesday from Patti Van Til, spokeswoman for the Lake County Sheriff's Department, stated police were dispatched to a burglary in progress in the 15400 block of Clay Street in Eagle Creek Township.

The homeowner told police he saw a gold Buick parked near his barn. The driver approached the homeowner saying he was looking for a man who lived there.

When the homeowner identified himself, the driver allegedly grabbed him and attempted to punch him in the face. Defending himself, the homeowner struck the man, knocking him to the ground.

Confronting another apparent burglar inside, the homeowner struggled with him. The alleged burglar was unable to get up and later was transported for treatment at a local hospital, according to the release.

Arrested were Peter Baloski, 28, of Lowell, and James Deweese, 29, of Crown Point.

Also arrested was Baloski's mother, Janet Baloski, for allegedly interfering with police during her son's arrest at his home.
