WINFIELD TOWNSHIP | An 86-year-old man died after being involved in a vehicle crash Sunday afternoon at 13100 Montgomery Street, police said.
Arthur "Skeeter" Young, the driver of the vehicle, died at Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point, said Patti Van Til, a spokeswoman for the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
Young died at 5:33 p.m. from blunt force trauma, according to a press release from the Lake County coroner's office.
Young, of Leroy, was driving a 2005 Buick at 4:45 p.m. south on Montgomery Street when he veered off the road, Van Til said. The vehicle struck two trees and then rolled over.
His wife, Phyllis Young, was the passenger in the vehicle, and had non-life threatening injuries, Van Til said. Both were extricated from the vehicle.
Van Til said both were wearing seatbelts during the time of the crash. She said deputies think Arthur Young could have had a medical condition before the vehicle veered off the road.
