CROWN POINT | Library officials celebrated a milestone Monday in construction of the new library by signing their names to a beam that will become part of the facility.
Construction began in June on the 46,750-square-foot new library in the 100 block of North Main Street.
The $12 million building will occupy about a half block, rising three stories and featuring a special section for children and a rain garden outside the main entrance, among other features.
The library is set to open late next year, replacing a smaller structure on South Court Street that opened in 1974 as an annex to the library's original home in the historic Carnegie Center, 223 S. Main St.
