CROWN POINT | A 38-lot subdivision proposed between 133rd Avenue and 125th Avenue in Crown Point won primary subdivision plat approval from the city's Plan Commission.
The 38 lots are to be the first developed in a 191-lot subdivision proposed by Schilling Development.
The full subdivision, to be named Copper Creek, had first been proposed in 1997 as Serenity Woods.
The land was annexed into the city in 2000, along with neighboring acreage now occupied by Feather Rock subdivision.
Residents of a nearby unincorporated area have shown interest in connecting to city water and sanitary sewer should development in Copper Creek bring those utilities within reach, city officials said.
