The 39th annual American Canadian Macedonian Orthodox Diocese Convocation is coming to the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville and SS. Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Church in Crown Point this Friday through Sunday, offering activities available to both attendees and the public.

“This annual event gives us an opportunity to not only live our religion, but also our culture and heritage,” said Nick Nochevich, convocation planner.

The public is invited to a welcome dance at 8 p.m. Friday at SS. Peter and Paul Macedonian Banquet Hall, 9660 Broadway. Cost is $20 and food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, the church will host a soccer tournament and picnic that continues at noon Sunday.

There will be a presentation of church choirs and folk dancing open to the public at 4 p.m. Saturday at the church. The dancing will showcase the traditions, culture and heritage of Macedonia.

Following that presentation, a youth dance will be held at Radisson Hotel, 800 E. 81st Ave. Cost is $20.
