The eighth annual CARSTAR Make-A-Wish Charity Golf Outing will tee off Wednesday, Aug. 7 at Youche Country Club in Crown Point.

Proceeds will be donated to Make-A-Wish-Indiana Region to grant the wish of a Northwest Indiana child with a life-threatening medical condition. Last year, CARSTAR was able to grant three wishes thanks to the generosity of its supporters.

You can make a difference by being a sponsor, donating a door prize or participating as a golfer. For more information, call Charlotte Hess at (219) 973-6137.

Bowling for Babies

Farmers Insurance District 60 is hosting Bowling For Babies to benefit the March of Dimes from to 9 p.m. July 24 at Plaza Lanes, 8101 Kennedy Ave., Highland.

Proceeds will go toward research, education and research, community service and advocacy. Each team must raise a minimum of $250 and will receive a March of Dimes T-shirt, food and drinks, with a raffle and door prizes.

Any bowler who bowls a perfect score of 300 will win $250 and the highest scoring team in Game 3 will win $100 per bowler.

Not a bowler? You can still participate. For $26 you can eat, drink and support a wonderful cause.

Tips benefit Opportunity Enterprises

During July, Campbell Street Café will be accepting tips on behalf of Opportunity Enterprises.

The café, owned and operated by Pines Village Retirement Communities, will donate a month’s worth of patrons’ tips to Opportunity Enterprises. As a nonprofit, Pines Village permits café employees to accept tips on behalf of charitable organizations in the community that serve older adults.

To support this month-long promotion, simply enjoy breakfast, lunch or a snack at the Campbell Street Café from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Meridian Woods neighborhood off Campbell Street, at 4245 Meridian Woods Drive, Valparaiso.

Reflections exhibit

The fourth annual themed photography exhibit hosted by the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority will be on display Aug. 15 to Sept. 30 in the W.F. Wellman Exhibit Hall inside the Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond.

Since first held, the exhibit has averaged approximately 2,000 visitors annually and 30 photographers have been represented each year.

This year, all images in the exhibit will be interpretations of Reflections. Subjects of the photos must also be geographically located within the area of the South Shore, from Chicago to New Buffalo, Mich. 

Photographers can submit their images online at www.southshorecva.com/photoexpo through July 5. All other inquiries may be addressed to Andrea at (219) 554-2722. There is no fee to participate and there is no limit to the number of submissions.

Business Networking Night

Taltree Arboretum and Gardens, 450 W. 100 North, Valparaiso, invites members of the business community to gather for an evening of networking and to enjoy the beautiful scenery from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
