The Indiana Pharmacists Alliance’s community pharmacy academy recently honored Crown Point pharmacist Joseph N. Allegretti with the Joseph E. McSoley Pharmacist of the Year award for his outstanding service to the profession and community.
Allegretti is the president emeritus of Laser Pharmaceuticals L.L.C., having served as president and COO at Laser, and as the secretary/treasurer of the Ribordy Drug Store chain for more than 13 years.
He currently serves on the Crown Point Community Foundation as board chairman, Franciscan St. Anthony Health Crown Point-Northwest Indiana Regional Board of Directors, Franciscan St. Anthony Health Crown Point Health Network Board of Managers, Franciscan St. Anthony Health Crown Point Community Council and the Branded Pharmaceutical Association as vice president and director. He was chairman and director of the Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Board of Visitors for 6 years.
He also served on the Board of Directors for Franciscan Homes and Community Services Inc. He is a past president of the Andrean (High School) Foundation Board, SS. Peter and Paul School board and Lake County Pharmacist Alliance.
He and his wife have been awarding scholarships to Northwest Indiana students for more than 10 years, as well as helping provide white coats to incoming pharmacy students at Butler University.
The Joseph E. McSoley Pharmacist of the Year is presented annually to a community pharmacist by the community academy of the Indiana Pharmacists Alliance. This award was created in 1996 to recognize a pharmacist who exemplifies the qualities of the namesake , Joseph E. McSoley, who gave many years of faithful and caring service to his patients and the alliance.
The award was presented to Allegretti during the Indiana Pharmacists Alliance’s Annual Convention at the French Lick Springs Resort in French Lick.
