CROWN POINT | Crown Point police are investigating an incident Wednesday in which a man reportedly shot one of his own dogs after it attacked three of his other dogs.

Police were called just after 2 p.m. to a home in the 500 block of East Joliet Street, where the resident had been trying to separate the dogs, all pit bulls, police said.

One dog, the more aggressive of the four, had attacked and injured the other three dogs while all were a fenced yard, police said.

A family member tried to intervene and the aggressive dog bit her, causing minor injuries to her hand, police said.

The dogs' owner then shot and killed the aggressive dog, police said.

Nobody was arrested, police said. The incident is still being investigated.
