CROWN POINT | The Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) will recognize Robert McDermott, former Principal at Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana, as the 2012 District High School Principal from IASP District 1 on Sunday, Nov. 18. District 1 is located in northwest Indiana and is made up of Jasper, Lake, Newton and Porter Counties.
The recognition ceremony is a part of the 2012 Principals of the Year Recognition Celebration, a part of IASP’s annual Fall Professional Conference. The award will be presented at a dinner at the Indianapolis Marriott Hotel at 6:30 p.m. with the IASP State President Tom Mellish presiding along with Executive Director Todd Bess, and Blue Ribbon Committee Chairperson Cynthia Morton.
“It is an honor to be named the IASP District 1 Principal of the Year by my colleagues throughout the region. The time I spent as the principal at Lake Central High School was very rewarding for me as an educator and person. Our dedicated staff worked extremely hard to improve in all measurable areas of school performance. Their hard work and dedication allowed our students to reach the highest levels of success the school has ever seen. This award is a reflection of their dedication and commitment to the students of Lake Central High School,” McDermott, who currently serves as a member of the administrative team at Crown Point High School, said.
District High School Principals of the Year are elected by their peers. One principal is honored from each of the 12 districts. From these 12 District High School Principal winners, one is chosen as the 2012 State High School Principal of the Year. The State winner will be announced at the award celebration.
The IASP is a not-for-profit, professional association serving over 2000 building level administrators in the state of Indiana.
